Analise Hausmann - "cars / "come on, I'll catch you" / tuning"

We’ve been following Analise Hausmann’s work since we first heard her work a few months ago. Her Seminary project is an exciting and completely captivating piece of work that “aims to honor the smallest most ordinary parts of our day-to-day lives, and this piece creates a big space for very tiny beings to be heard.” The challenging and beautiful neo-classical compositions run from “tuning” which “is inspired by insect sounds and the tuning of an orchestra” which create some of the most interesting experimental sounds of the three compositions, to “come on, I’ll catch you” which utilizes violin/vocals/synth improvisation with field recordings to create a holy and beautifully rendered exploration of the busy sounds we process while we try to stay still. In highlighting deep listening as spiritual practice of the track “cars” Hausmann states, “I’m not religious. I called the project “seminary” because I was living on “seminary St.”; however, I feel like writing this music felt a little like spiritual training. Instead of focusing on “God”, I focused on the importance and feeling of beautiful holiness in things like tracks in the snow and passing cars.”:
