Dave Hawley - "Stable"

Released intentionally to coincide with the Kentucky Derby (which - if you haven’t watched - was one of the most thrilling sports events I’ve seen in recent years) “Stable” by Maryland based Dave Hawley is a beautiful and meditative solo piano composition that recalls Harold Budd and Nico Muhly’s stripped down work. Inspired by horses, “Stable” presents a simple melody repeating above a series of tonal shifting, elongated notes held until the cycle completes and resets itself - a soothing balm for a turbulent world.
