Chalk Portraits - "Departure"

With the amount of Metal bands transforming into atmospheric Shoegaze as they get into their 30’s will we similar a similar track for Metal journalists taking a hard turn into eurorack modular synth work? I hope so, because “Departure” from Metal Injection’s Greg Kennelty is a near perfect exploration into soft, pillowy pads, vibrant arpeggios and tonal shifting drones that breathe with warmth and pastoral approaches to modular synth music. “Departure” is take from Chalk Portraits’ album “Welcome Home” and in it we can feel the sun-warmed tones melt into each other, eventually turning into a gently pulsing ambient field towards the end of the song.
