Ann Annie - "Three Chords (feat. David Allred)"

The Portland based ambient artist Ann Annie put out one of my favorite ambient records of all time, the 2018 album Cordillera. Known for soothing modular synth, “Three Chords” featuring the double bassist David Allred feels like a major departure, but in a completely affirming way. Piano, strings and bass break into a full flight on this composition, featuring lush piano chords, stirring bass and strings, the work feels like a full fledged composer who has come into their own. Breaking out of the modular synth world, Ann Annie’s work continues to impress.
