Like all good soundscape artists, William Sanford pulls us, against our will, into a whole world that exists whether we push play or not. The U.S. based avant-garde composer utilizes distorted ambient pads, dark synths and plunderphonic vocal work to create a self-contained world of sound and movement. Whether we dip our toes into it or not is irrelevant, one gets the feeling that this world will continue to exist in it’s mutated, permanently roiling state long after we’ve dipped out.
