Rain and reverb. Reverb on rain. Is there a better combination than these two? The percussive patter and the chance rhythms that these draw out are inherent mood setters when processed with just enough space to allow them to fill a room with their resounding presence. On “Absolution” the U.S. based artist pairs these processed rain sounds with swelling, cavernous drones and aching, mile-high tonal shifts. It’s a quite effecting and contemplative piece that plays on two very obvious strengths.
