Former Cincinnati band Upstairs have an inborn knack for writing incredibly engaging pop songs that twist and turn with an idiosyncrasy all their own. Set against a fabric of a sort of Tenet style forwards/backwards electronic percussion and processing while guitars writhe neatly around vocals that ebb in and out of droll observations – a sort of Rust Belt “Dirty Ave.” through the busy corners of the mind –   and zoom-choir // gang-whispered vocals.  A brilliant intro to their upcoming album What is Upstairs
