In the first track by the U.S. based Swartz et, the ambient artist most known for his guitar based composition dives into the world of modular synthesizer to create this living and breathing composition with muted, melodic lines ascending from an ambient noise floor into the light. Tracking the way the light leaks through the opacity of leaves as the sun tracks through the sky, “Light Leaks” also changes as it moves forward through time, imperceptible changes in pitch come back as massive tonal shifts after being rinsed through modular processsing.
"DROWNING IN THE LIGHT"
“Drowning in the Light” is intense. The source material is the recording of a loved one of Swartz et crying and screaming in the throes of a mental breakdown which trigger the melody on the modular synthesizer. The large swells of distorted melody was created by screaming the words “I love you” into the microphone. An attempt to cast a lifeline to someone struggling with mental health symptoms. All proceeds from “Drowning in Light” and “Light Leaks” will go to the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health.
