This week I seem to be blessed with so many of these low-key IDM bangers performed on hardware in one-take. There is something truly inspiring hearing the synapses of the Wimbledon based artist Spectrin and his modular rig connect in a download of reaction and timing. A download of consciousness on a grid. Noise gates open and snap shut, percussive patterns intersect and burst apart, melodic fragments shoot through while deeply felt ambient passages haunt the corners and a dubby noisefloor reverberates at the threshold of hearing. A deeply studied and highly enjoyable IDM performance, “Queenhithe” is bursting at the seams with ideas.
