Holding in balance the macro and microcosmic world with the organic and processed sounds on “Relics in the Ice”, British composer Rachael Philip has composed a truly compelling listen here, that dips and peaks in some novel ways. About the album, Philp states, “Conceptually, the album is a tribute to the carousel of life and death, from microcosmic to macrocosmic view, in which one is born and dies in, and thus breathes life into, a diverse but interconnected network of beings and organisms.” There is a sense of drama happening at a tiny scale, but the impact as they move up and through the composition are truly stunning.
