Much of the discussion in the midst of Global uprising to end white supremacy has been how record labels and artists can use their platform to aid this work. Many labels and artists have donated their proceeds towards organizations that support the ends of Black Lives Matter. Further discussion has taken place on how white label owners and white artists can give up some of their power to create a more equitable musical landscape for Black artists and labels – a crucial pivot to center Black life, labor, joy and creative expression that white artists and white label owners profit from.
