On “Fuserrrr” the latest single by Mary-Ann Kiefer, the Austrian based artist creates a dizzingly complex and heavy composition built up from various intersecting parts. It’s hard to pin down this track as it roars from one section to another gaining comparisons to Lightning Bolt, And So I Watch You From Afar, Hella and Battles and other groups that pulverize with multiple intersecting parts. There is a propulsive gallop, however, that keeps the entire thing together. A brilliant sprint towards the finish that ties in elements of post-rock, jazz, post-punk, noise-rock and IDM rooted in some kind of manic relay-race. Created over 4 years, the video for “Fuserrr” will be completed using 10 second snippets of over 60 contributors. Excellent and totally engaging work.
