On his debut single from the new album, Dream Weather is Electric Song, Portland’s Jesse Carsten contemplates the relationship of gravity as an affecting force in our life from the molecular level to the inertia in our relationships pushing from the edges to the center. Delivered in a half-spoken / half-sung treatise with minimal acoustic guitar beneath, these questions of great value and weight are left as open ended clues leading towards some bigger truth. As an artist creating music on his own terms since 2013 it is refreshing to hear this concentrated thoughtfulness and tenderness in a stark, folk package.
