The lead single off of the recently released CD Reflections on a Dying Man out on our friends Doom Trip Records, the heavy cinematic quality and crescendoing¬† intensity of “2nd Floor Studio” feels like it racing to some final conclusion. Recorded after finding out that his father had 6 months to live, Diamondstein returned to Parkersburg, WV to face this journey head on. The result is an unflinching night ride into the darker parts of the collateral damage of the death of a loved one, the opioid crisis gripping Appalachia and the effects of unregulated capitalism. Musically, it is a full of gripping, ever-ascending arpeggios, slashes of industrial clamor and frantic but precise drumming that keep it on its harrowing trajectory.¬†¬†
