On “Slowly” we hear Los Angeles based Christopher Sky begin to really let the sunlight into his already ebullient electronic compositions. On “Slowly” we hear golden drones, patient, breathing bass lines, Balearic arpeggios, live percussion and a soaring overtone synth line that perfectly lilts into that place right before an overdriven tone becomes distorted. A sweet spot for me if there ever was one. It’s damn near perfect.

A bit more of a subdued track from Christopher Sky, “Under the Waves” is clustered around a series of vibraphone notes notes that ring out in perfect resonance against a sand-shifting ambient pad and characteristic synth line that enacts a contrasting push and pull against the rooted acoustic instrumentation. All of this is happening against the ebb and flow of the ocean’s tide, placing this within the context of nature’s unchanging patterns.
