Port Sleep is the ambient project of Jakub Bujakowski and “The Fireworks Still Go Off” is a beautiful reminder of what ambient music can do and how “happy accidents” can result in unmistakable compositional choices. Full of space between keys, distant drones and digital artifacts, “The Fireworks Still Go Off” feels cordoned off into a world of it’s own. A cloistered habitat of soft, pillowy sounds. Of the piece, Port Sleep states, “Some of my favourite pieces of music are those which make me feel melancholic and hopeful at the same time and this was the feeling I tried to convey with this song. It's a slowly evolving ambient tune driven by electronic keys whose character was defined by many happy accidents that happened during the sound design phase - from the cracking pads to the glitchy, scattered piano.”
