Working form home has had me rethinking my entire office listening set up. One group that I constantly return to during these long hours of staring a screen is 1 Mile North.  The duo comprised of John Hills and Mark Bajuk create that perfectly paced post-rock that recalls the best of bands like Tortoise and Zelionople that build, bend and break in the perfect angles. Back with new material, “Drying the Fuse” continue that pattern with a slow build composition centered around a jittery guitar groove and a horn section that can either be described as triumphant or melancholy depending on how COVID 19 has situated you. It certainly sounds like it’s signaling something whether that’s a new world or the apocalypse is TBD.
