Ok. So, this is a tad self indulgent. I approached Denver's excellent ambient-drone duo the Kevin Costner Suicide Pact about producing a video for Decay's centerpiece. In addition to doing the TOME I occasionally do visual art for live performances. This was my first attempt to work with artists outside of the insular New Weird Utah collective I run with. I wanted to create something that was ostensibly beautiful but was insidious and ugly in actuality. I piled some skate footage I took on a gorgeous fall day on top of the 2008 riot after the Phillies World Series win. I wanted to juxtapose something as controlled and exact as skateboarding with the scary lack of restraint and control when drunk and celebratory humans reach their tipping points and things get ugly.
